Sound matrix snowflakes laid out in the area surrounding sound sources in a studio could result in immediate imnprovement in the quality of sound being put to tape. Secondly, sound matrix snowflakes put on surfaces surrounding sound reproducers (loudspeakers) should likewise result in immediate improvement from that end. The double improvement could see a major change in the way listeners enjoy their music and the way musicians approach producing music. The result could be, basically, better stuff, period, a rapid moving away from the heavy metal and rap approaches, to something with intrinsic beauty in the music itself and a higher (positive) consciousness in any lyrics. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- See UPDATE REMARKS dated Nov. 1, 1991, near the end of the SOUND1.TXT file for update discussions regards use of small 3mm filed beads in sonic resonance experiments. Regards putting a single bead in a strategic place somewhere on the table between the two speakers. Otherwise, one or both speakers rattles, pops, hisses, or spits. The single bead seems to stablize this in particular where VERY STRONG bass instruments are found. Regards testing input from vibrating solid objects - You can test this conjecture easily enough. Find a good location for placing a pair of bongo drums on the table and put a snowflake on the skin of each bongo, and you may hear an immediate difference for the better in the overall range of sound (in this case in particular in the mid ranges). ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Also, having everything behind the curtains means (in words like a TV commercial writer's 2-digit IQ), 'new extra-plus mystery ingredient added, is proof they are more than just a surprise at the stores of the future, today'! ---------------------------------------------- SYMMETRIES ---------------------------------------------- ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY CONSERVED AND ALSO BROKEN When a virtual North/South rotational axis is introduced in a hexagram, the hexagram's centerpoint Rotational symmetry can be both conserved, and broken, depending on whether the North/South axis itself is rotated (rotational symmetry of the hexagram is then broken) or not rotated (rotational symmetry of the hexagram is conserved even if the hexagram itself is rotated around its centerpoint. How is this dual symmetry status understood? Concider this. The symmetry of a hexagram with a North/South axis can be said to be, say, Male on the Left side, and Female on the Right side. The Upper Left nodal point can be labelled, say, Intelligence, and the Upper Right nodal point can be labelled, say, Substance. And Action (through which passes the North/South axis) could be the Top center nodal of the hexagram. If the whole image is, say, rotated to the Right around a central axis relative to an external constant third party observer, then the nodal originally called Intelligence, relative to the third party observer, moves up to the point that was originally called Action, yet it still remains a compliment to Substance because when the hexagram at the new orientation is rotated on its North/South axis, Intelligence can still exchange places with Substance, relative to the constant third party observer. On the other hand, if the North/South axis remains unchanged while the hexagram is rotated to the Right around its central shaft, then the nodal point called Intelligence moves up to where Action used to be, and become global, that is, it can not now exchange with another nodal name when the hexagram is now turned on its North/South axis. In this instance, the original rotational symmetry of the hexagram has been broken by the event of rotating the hexagram's nodal points around a central axis, while keeping the rotational axis of the hexagram (both vertical and central) unchanged. ---------------------------------------------- FRACTAL SOUND ---------------------------------------------- THREE DIMENSIONAL FRACTAL PATTERNS The net or composite moire pattern-like effects of the combined reflecting interacting sound waves, composite standing waves, and newly generated sound waves moving through the room from the speaker(s), is probably most closely approximated mathematically as a three dimensional fractal pattern. In this case, each fundamental six sided shape in the composites of the moire constitutes one basic statement of fact in the mathematics. In this, all 7 nodal points of a hexagram in a fractal have to be concidered as one basic statement (comprising a 7 piece group acting as one) for the mathematics to be fully understood. - The GOOD LISTENER (Feb, 1992) Later insert... NORMALLY, SUCH QUICK NOTES WOULD HAVE BEEN INSERTED INTO AN UPATE. BUT IN THE FOLLOWING, JUST WHERE THEY WOULD HAVE INSERTED OR THE MOTIVE FOR WRITING THEM, HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN. SO, HERE THEY ARE, AS IS. --------------------------- The two paper Stars of David mounted upright in alligator clips on the rear makeshift table have also been taken out of the system completely, when levels of fidelity began to be gained to such a degree that the two paper Stars of David became spoilers. It could literally start rapping at high speed, producing no usable fidelity. In and out of these phases, phases were found where the bass was a loud pok pok pok. Otherwise generally the fidelity was excellent. VARIABLES SO FAR PINNED DOWN IN THE SIX SIDED MOBILES 1 Larger rather than small overall size - current prototype has a minium cross section diameter of roughly 11 inches. 2 Larger caplocks. 3 Rough paper rather than smooth plastic. The paper for the current 11 inch prototype is art paper high grade. 4 Main harmonic cutting, rather than upper harmonic cutting. 5 Upper harmonic cutting is far easier to draw (for instance the initial template) but the main harmonic has a much better stereo presence, expecially in the mid range. A Blue Jays baseball game was cranked up to full volume and the difference in stereo presence was immediate - the loud crowd noise in the background expand into a more mighty thunderous roar with many point source voices and sounds, and blended back into a more homogenous background hubub and steady rumble or roar in a flat wall behind the game broadcaster's voice. Similarly for inner atomic vibrations, and the like. How about zero vacuum in space or a laboratory, is there tremendous energy still there, hidden unseen in the realms of impact vibrations and not seen due to the observer's lack of using any means to look for them at the moment. I don't know. These types of spectulations I tend to keep hanging around on the back shelf not thinking firmly about them one way or the other, until new information comes along the way (such as something in a science magazine for instance 'Discover' or 'Scientific American' which casts light on the subject, one way or the other), or something newly percieved in an empirical way turns up in such as the sonic experiments upstairs, for instance. I wait, until I know in better ways how things actually happen in the physical 3rd dimensional world, when it comes to empirical understandings.
